How laser tattoo removal works
To permanently eliminate your tattoo, lasers send high-powered, short pulses of light directly into the ink in your skin. These pulses shatter the tattoo ink into smaller pieces that can be absorbed and eliminated through the body’s natural processes. Your body’s immune system flushes away the shattered particles and your tattoo begins to fade. After several treatments, your skin will be free of ink!

PicoWay is the only laser that has three wavelengths in one laser system. These three wavelengths are used to target specific colours of ink. That means that PicoWay is compatible with tattoos of any colour, even those done in stubborn greens and blues. Traditional lasers are less efficient on different colours of ink. They often leave behind small particles of ink that don’t break up and that can’t be absorbed by the body. Conventional lasers are also very intense and can cause burning or blistering on the surrounding skin. With PicoWay, you can expect a reduced recovery period and fewer treatments before your tattoo is permanently removed.
What to expect
With the PicoWay system, the procedure of getting your tattoo removed is very quick. A single treatment for a small tattoo can take less than 30 seconds, while a larger tattoo such as an entire sleeve can take about 45 minutes. The degree of pain you’ll experience depends on your pain threshold. Although it might hurt more than getting the tattoo itself, the pain does not last long. In fact, about 90 percent of clients don’t even require any topical anesthetic. After your treatment, you may feel a sunburn-like sensation, but any discomfort is temporary.
Typically, your tattoo will start to fade after the first session, and be fully erased after 3-6 sessions. The number of treatments you will require depends on many factors such as the size of your tattoo, how deep the pigment penetrates your skin, your skin type, and the location of the tattoo. If the tattoo is older and already fading, you might only need 1-2 sessions to completely remove it. While every patient’s experience and results vary, you will most likely be able to return to your normal routines and activities immediately following your removal session.
